They released five songs in 2009, their first year as a professional singing duet (they’ve averaged three per year thereafter), including the radio hit “Volver.” “Yo Te Esperaré” was certified double platinum in Spain in 2012, and was followed by “No Hay Dos Sin Tres” in 2013. (featuring David Bisbal). The latter song received gold certification and was selected as the 2012 Euro Cup theme song for the Spanish national squad. That same year, the pair released 3 A.M., their long-player first album.
Cali y El Dandee’s most successful markets have been Spain, Mexico, and the United States. “Por Fin Te Encontre,” a song by Juan Magán and Sebastián Yatra released in 2015, reached number one in Spain, charted in the top 50 in the United States, and was certified platinum five times. The pair worked with Shaggy on the song “Lumbra” that year, which reached number six on its way to triple platinum certification, and they followed it up with the platinum “La Estrategia.”
Cali y El Dandee released the chart-topping song “Ay Corazón” in 2019, followed by three collaborative tracks, including the gold-certified “Tequila Sunrise” with special guest Rauw Alejandro. The pair teamed with Spanish pop singer Aitana on “+” in 2020, which reached number two on the charts and was certified platinum. Colegio, the brothers’ second long-player, was released in May. The pair began 2021 with “Primera Carta,” a collaboration with Beret, whose video had over 13 million views in its first two months, and followed up in March with “Pasado,” a duet with Venezuelan pop sensation Carmen DeLeon, who sang lead. They released “Despiertate,” a self-described “popeton” song (Latin pop and reggaeton) with Mau y Ricky and Guaynaa a month later; Billboard magazine predicted it would be a summer smash. The music peaked within the Latin Top 20 at streaming across the board, and the video had over four and a half million views in its first month, proving their point.
