Seth Willie Doan is an American television journalist currently working as a correspondent for CBS in Rome. The talented reporter was born on the 26th. in June 1978 in his hometown of Harwich, Massachusetts. His father, Paul Doan, is a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Navy in the late 1960s. Seth is a family man and adores his two nieces, Georgia and his younger sister Sarah Doan’s Lula daughters.

Doane made his debut as an outside journalist for WNYW, the virtual channel of Fox Television Network’s Channel 5. The television station Channel One News then decided to make him press officer and sent him to another country for important reporting in San Salvador, Indonesia, Afghanistan and Sudan. This work led to 22-year-old Seth being nominated for an Investigative Emmy for his impressive coverage of school safety news. He’s never looked back since.
Soon after, Doan was recruited by CNN and sent to the vast Indian peninsula as CNN’s foreign correspondent. Seth discovered famous stories and participated in them for almost a year. During his stay, Seth collected many stories from all over South Asia. He made a fascinating report on children held in slavery in remote villages in Nepal, and he seized his chance by exposing the lives and lies of the courts and brothels to uncover stories of prostitutes in New Delhi.
In June 2007, CBS found Seth and brought him back to the scene. This time, Seth exploded while working on a new show, The Other America. This unique show documented the bitter realities people faced as the U.S. economy began to collapse before the Great Recession. His report revealed brutal truths as he filmed crowds reporting before dawn in hopes of getting free health care. With a story in tears, he brought millions of viewers to the restaurant at a sad time when he had to say goodbye to his employees because of the economic crisis.
As an international journalist, Doane has made courageous decisions that demonstrate his commitment as a journalist. During his three years at CBS News in Asia, Doan provided a wide range of news and district coverage. China has been in the spotlight since 2014 for its construction of artificial islands in the South China Sea. Seth even sailed in these waters to report on China’s efforts on the island. He has reported throughout China on urgent matters such as financial affairs, human rights, legislative affairs of the ruling Communist Party. He has even been to North Korea twice as a correspondent. Seth didn’t stop when he was stationed in Japan. He was preparing to enter reactor four at the Fukushima nuclear power plant to protect himself from the effects of the earthquake and tidal wave.
More than seventy countries have been visited by this remarkable journalist. He made a historic contribution to defeating the bloody border wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and witnessed devastating events from the Asian tsunami to the Haiti earthquake. He received the Peabody Award for his trip to Darfur. At this crucial moment, he was able to step down, deliver and report on this wretched circumstance.

In 2020, CBS News finally confirmed Seth as a reporter for CBS Sunday Mornings when Rand Morrison, executive producer of CBS Sunday Mornings, declared him super-qualified. The award-winning journalist is also very involved in his CBS 60 in 6 show, where he has interviewed celebrities like the Bangtan Boys and Sophia Lauren, among others.

Doane was listed as a dean of the Annenberg School of Communication at the University of Southern California, where he graduated in 2000 with a B.A. in broadcast journalism with a major in international relations and a minor in business administration.
Doan does not believe in hiding his sexual orientation and married his lover Andrea Pastorelli on the 6th. September 2014 during a graceful same-sex wedding ceremony in Arezzo, Italy, at Villa Rosa Badia di Campoleone. Since then, the couple has been happily married and is often spotted together at prestigious events. Andrea Pastorelli, Seth’s wife, is a social activist who is part of an organization that advocates for the education of children in Italy.
From April 2013 to March 2016, Doan was based in Beijing, China, reporting from Asia for CBS News. He has been in Rome since April 2016, covering Europe, Africa and the Middle East for CBS News.
In March 2020, Doane was in the news again when he was one of six journalists who showed symptoms of VIDA and claimed to be positive for VIDOC-19.
