Samuel Cassidy is a 20 year old San Jose resident who was arrested in the first week of February after being accused of trying to shoot two San Jose police officers. According to online records, the shooter is 57 years old and has a long-standing connection to California. Apparently he was born there and lived there all his life. The names of the victims and their condition have not been released. He had no obvious social media accounts. According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect has only been identified as an employee of the Valley Transportation Agency. However, several media outlets are reporting that the name of the suspect is Samuel Cassidy, who allegedly committed suicide at the scene. Davis also confirmed that the suspected shooter is dead, but there was no official word yet on the cause of death. Police also did not disclose what type of weapon the shooter used. All of the victims were employees of the Valley Transportation Authority, Davis said. Cassidy’s home was also the scene of an active police presence early Wednesday morning when authorities responding to the house fire reportedly found empty gas cans and the smell of gasoline. A local NBC reporter reported that hundreds of shell casings were found in the house.
